EDUCATION IN

LAKE OF THE WOODS

M-State’s Electrical Lineworker Program

The Minnesota State Community and Technical College system (M State) is very proud of its Electrical Lineworker training facility in the northern Minnesota community of Baudette/Lake of the Woods.  In 2010, due to increasing market demand and with incredible industry support, M State was able to develop an outstanding 30-acre training center with a 7,200-square-foot lab in the midst of an outdoor paradise.

Students in Baudette have the same hands-on training as students in the lineworker program in Wadena while enjoying Lake of the Woods, one of the greatest fisheries in North America and the proclaimed Walleye Capital of the World.  In addition to fishing, the area is also known for excellent hunting, snowmobiling, canoeing, and outdoor recreation in a booming tourism industry.  Students looking for an area with breathtaking sunsets, world class fishing, scenic beauty, numerous outdoor activities, and the best neighbors around, should look no further than Lake of the Woods.

Program outcomes
1. Install electrical structures.
2. Interpret trade specifications and drawings.
3. Install single and multiphase overhead and underground distribution systems.
4. Demonstrate competent climbing abilities.
5. Demonstrate aerial rescue procedures.

Employment

This program is well-known nationwide and graduates are highly sought after by the industry.
